TRH Foundation

TRH stands for Transform. Revive. Heal. The foundation grew out of a meeting in 2019 between Rianca Evers-den Ouden and pastor Peter Kamodzi from Malawi. They shared one very specific vision: equip leaders so that they bring about transformation. Together with Peter's brother Mark, now the local director, that vision has grown into a leadership movement of more than 200 leaders in Malawi and Mozambique.

People who live in poverty for a long time often simply stop believing they are able to get out of it themselves. Years of food aid have only deepened that dependency. That is why TRH started a project in Phalombe, in one of the poorest countries in the world, with a different approach: not sending aid, but working alongside the people in the village to improve their harvest and their income, so that they can provide for themselves and for each other.

Pastors, chiefs and other leaders play a key role in this. They help keep the existing beliefs in place, and they are also the people who can turn a village around. So TRH runs leadership training in which they learn to look honestly at their own convictions and discover how to help others grow. The training is delivered by local partners; TRH supports them spiritually, practically with materials, and financially.

To achieve this, TRH focuses on:

  • supporting local partners and organisations spiritually and financially so that they can deliver training and development;

  • providing training material in English, Chichewa or another local language to equip leaders;

  • making mission trips and organising conferences on location;

  • investing in essential structures, such as an irrigation system or microcredit for widows who want to start a business;

  • setting up a child sponsorship project, together with Nofam, for orphans in particular who have nothing else to fall back on;

  • investing in buildings with a public function that strengthen the community, such as a church or a training space.

The training in sustainable agriculture and financial stewardship, delivered by the Crown Stewardship Center, can improve harvests by up to 300%. For the orphans, TRH works with Hope Foundation, an organisation made up entirely of volunteers from the village itself who care for widows, orphans, the elderly and people with a disability.

Kinderen en volwassenen uit de gemeenschap in Phalombe, Malawi.

For whom

For orphans in Phalombe who have nothing else to fall back on, and for the leaders, families, widows and elderly in their community.

Our mission

Helping people break free from poverty for good, by equipping leaders and addressing the underlying beliefs that keep people trapped in poverty.

What we do

For 30 euros a month you make sure an orphan can pay the school fees, has enough to eat and finishes school. TRH does this together with the local team in Malawi and with Hope Foundation, which consists entirely of volunteers from the village itself.
