My story
Susana Mawi and Mary Mawi are twin sisters, born on January 5, 2025. Their lives began under difficult circumstances. Their mother struggled with drug addiction and left the twins with their grandmother shortly after their birth and disappeared. Their grandmother suffered from heart problems, which made caring for the babies difficult. The girls' father worked as a bricklayer and did hard physical work every day to provide food and basic necessities for his parents and his two daughters.
One day, the grandparents made a desperate and tragic decision. They sold the twins for about €50. It is painful that this decision had to be made, leaving the girls in the hands of strangers.
When the team at Win Children Home heard what had happened, it broke their hearts. They went looking for the girls and intervened. The twin sisters now live safely in the children's home, where they receive the care and support they need.
