My story

Stacy and her four siblings lost their mother when they were very young. Their father abandoned them, and they have been raised by their grandmother, who struggles to provide for them. The family survives on small earnings from selling vegetables, but it is never enough. On most days, they eat only one meal, and even that is not guaranteed. Their grandmother is old and weak, yet she does everything she can to ensure the children have a roof over their heads. Their house is overcrowded, and the children share a small, worn-out mattress. During school days, Stacy sometimes goes to school barefoot because she has no proper shoes. At times, she is sent home due to unpaid fees, forcing her to miss out on important lessons.

Why Stacy needs our help

Stacy and her siblings depend entirely on their grandmother, who struggles to provide food, clothing, and school necessities. She often goes to school on an empty stomach, making it difficult to concentrate. Her passion for learning is strong, but the lack of school supplies and a stable home environment threaten her dreams. With support from Hope for Hope, Stacy could receive the resources she needs to stay in school and work towards her goal of becoming a teacher.

Stacy is supported by impact partner Hope4Hope Kenia

Project Held supports the children's center Hope4hope in Kenya by means of child sponsorship and project-based help such as a well, separate boys' girls' house and the farm where they can grow their own vegetables and keep animals. Hope4Hope is located in Mombasa, Kenya. Was officially started in 2010 for children of the village of Likoni. Due to poverty, the children could not go to school and had to work in the stone mines. Project leader Reginold Odhiambo has started a football project to activate the children and give them a goal. At the moment this has been expanded with a school project, a food project, a dance and music project, a children's centre and a youth centre. In Kenya, the difference between rich and poor is very large. For this reason, children and young people often go down the criminal path out of boredom and hopelessness, often they turn to drugs. The goal of Hope4Hope is to show the young people that there is hope and teach them to use their talents in a positive way. When they gather in a safe environment, they are encouraged to do well. It is important for young people to find and develop their talents. Bringing young people together is a good opportunity to tell them about God and show His love. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials, housing and medical care, so that a great future perspective is offered in which they can realize their dreams. What a day looks like: The children go to school from Monday to Friday. They get up at 6 a.m. The older children help with breakfast and also help the younger children get ready for school. School starts at 7 a.m. They brush their teeth twice a day, which is not common in Kenya. At 08:45 they come back for breakfast which consists of bread or rice with vegetables and sometimes chicken for special occasions. Then they go back to school and come back for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Lunch consists of rice or beans with vegetables and an egg. Twice a week they get chapatti which is a delicacy in Kenya. At 16:45 the school is finished and they come back home where they participate in the football or dance project. The older children go to Boarding School. This is mandatory in Kenya. Your sponsorship contribution provides education, food and shelter.
