My story

Solomon was found by unknown people on the streets of Kampala when he was young. They started using him to beg for money. One day, he and other children were caught by agents of the Kampala Capital City Authority. Solomon was taken to the Kampiringisa National Rehabilitation Centre. A place where children who commit crimes and who live on the street are arrested and taken care of for rehabilitation. Thanks to Foodstep, he was allowed to leave and now lives at Foodstep.

Why Solomon needs our help

Thanks to sponsorship, Solomon can go to school and build a hopeful future.

What a day looks like: In Uganda, the day starts early. The children have breakfast together with bread and tea, after which the children go to school. The older children stay in the children's home where they help with various chores. A number of children are in boarding school and are only at home on weekends. When the younger children come back from school, they also help with the various chores. Of course, there is also time to relax, play games and do homework. In the evening, all the children come together to eat and pray. Dinner usually consists of rice, beans, and vegetables. Once a week the children get chicken and once a week they get fish. The children get acrobatics lessons which has a positive effect on their self-confidence and development and they also have worship evenings. Project information: Foodstep in Uganda was founded 16 years ago by the Belgian couple Werner and Nathalie. They were touched by the plight of the many street children, children from the children's prison and severely neglected children. They started in their own home, first with 2, then 15 and finally 50 children. They decided to buy a piece of land and create a warm house on it. Together with a team of social workers, foster mothers, administrative staff, cooks, drivers, pastors, etc., Foodstep has grown into a beautiful, safe and loving place for the children. All the children who live there were placed there by the child protection agency and the judge, their situation was untenable. Children at Foodstep all go to school, get good medical help, nutritious meals, social care but above all a lot of love! Your support provides your sponsor child with daily food, education and school materials, housing and medical care, so that the children have a great future perspective and they can realize their dream.
