"Reginold dreams of becoming an engineer, inspired by his love for machines, buildings, and how things work. He enjoys taking apart broken radios, toy cars, and any old gadgets he finds to see how they function. Even though he doesn’t always succeed in fixing them, his curiosity and determination never fade. At school, science and mathematics are his favorite subjects, and he often asks his teachers complex questions about how buildings stand tall or how engines work. His biggest dream is to build strong houses and roads so that his community can have better infrastructure. Despite his struggles, Reginold remains eager to learn, believing that education is the key to achieving his dreams."

My story

Reginold lives with his single mother, who struggles to provide for him. She is unemployed, making it difficult to afford food, school fees, and other basic needs. Their home is small and barely enough for them to live comfortably. On most days, Reginold goes to school hungry, and sometimes he has to miss school because his mother cannot afford his school supplies or uniform. The financial struggles at home have made it hard for him to focus, but he refuses to give up on his dream. His mother, despite her struggles, encourages him to study hard. She knows that education is his only way out of poverty, but without a steady income, she is constantly worried about how to keep him in school.

Why Reginold needs our help

Reginold is a bright and hardworking student, but poverty is a major challenge in his life. Without proper meals, school fees, and learning materials, his education is at risk. He needs support to stay in school, have enough food, and access the right resources to pursue his dream of becoming an engineer. With help, he can continue his education and one day build a better future for himself and his mother.

Reginold is supported by impact partner Hope4Hope Kenia

Project Held supports the children's center Hope4hope in Kenya by means of child sponsorship and project-based help such as a well, separate boys' girls' house and the farm where they can grow their own vegetables and keep animals. Hope4Hope is located in Mombasa, Kenya. Was officially started in 2010 for children of the village of Likoni. Due to poverty, the children could not go to school and had to work in the stone mines. Project leader Reginold Odhiambo has started a football project to activate the children and give them a goal. At the moment this has been expanded with a school project, a food project, a dance and music project, a children's centre and a youth centre. In Kenya, the difference between rich and poor is very large. For this reason, children and young people often go down the criminal path out of boredom and hopelessness, often they turn to drugs. The goal of Hope4Hope is to show the young people that there is hope and teach them to use their talents in a positive way. When they gather in a safe environment, they are encouraged to do well. It is important for young people to find and develop their talents. Bringing young people together is a good opportunity to tell them about God and show His love. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials, housing and medical care, so that a great future perspective is offered in which they can realize their dreams. What a day looks like: The children go to school from Monday to Friday. They get up at 6 a.m. The older children help with breakfast and also help the younger children get ready for school. School starts at 7 a.m. They brush their teeth twice a day, which is not common in Kenya. At 08:45 they come back for breakfast which consists of bread or rice with vegetables and sometimes chicken for special occasions. Then they go back to school and come back for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Lunch consists of rice or beans with vegetables and an egg. Twice a week they get chapatti which is a delicacy in Kenya. At 16:45 the school is finished and they come back home where they participate in the football or dance project. The older children go to Boarding School. This is mandatory in Kenya. Your sponsorship contribution provides education, food and shelter.
