"Minakshi wants to become an IAS Officer when she grows up."

- Minakshi

My story

Minakshi is a young girl with big dreams but limited means. She comes from the slum community of Nath Mohalla, where poverty casts a long shadow on the lives of countless families. Her parents, who work as daily wage laborers, are caught in an endless struggle to make ends meet. Many times, they can’t find work, leaving the family to face hunger, uncertainty, and despair. Amid these hardships, Minakshi has shown remarkable resilience. Despite the financial burdens, she dreams of excelling in her studies and creating a better future. Unfortunately, like many children from underprivileged backgrounds, her dreams were at risk of being crushed by poverty. Through this project, Minakshi is now receiving an education, a ray of hope in an otherwise bleak situation. This project has allowed her to thrive academically, opening up possibilities she once thought were out of reach.

Minakshi is supported by impact partner Nath Mohalla community

What a day looks like: The children are at school at 7:30 am and have lessons here until 12:30 pm. Then the children go home and help with the housework, help with cooking and can do their homework. Of course, there is also time to play with peers. Project information: The children supported by Project Held live in a slum and are located on the outskirts of Indore. This community is also called Nath in India and is seen as a very low class. They must set up camp at least 200 meters from civilization. There is little to no help for these people and they are ostracized by the rest of society. The people from this slum are mainly engaged in catching snakes, exorcising snakes and searching for waste. Our contact person from YWAM has started together with a team to structurally help these people and to love them and build relationships. A school was built next to the slum in 2021 to educate the children and give them hope for the future. In addition, the whole village is taught about hygiene and the women are trained in making liquid soap and candles to sell. A lot has changed in the slum in the meantime, including the positive behavior of the children, people wash their hands before eating and everyone is much more optimistic. Many are also open to the gospel, which is something new to them. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials and medical care, so that the children have a great future perspective and they can realize their dream.
