"I like singing sacred songs most of my time, sometimes I do play skipping rope with my friends. I would like to be a teacher when I grow up, so that I can champion girl child education in our village."

- Mercy

My story

My name is Mercy and I am 11 years. I am the forth born in a family of 7 sisters. I come from a single parent family. We stay with our mother who does a small job in the village to get us food. I am in grade 4 at the Blessed Generation primary school. I am happy to be in school because now I can speak, read and write English.

Why Mercy needs our help

Mercy need our help because she together with her siblings dropped out of school because their mother disregarded girl child education and takes them to do casual jobs in the village, which most of time is not paying well and not available. Sometimes they depend on well wishers to get food. Blessed Generation assessed the situation at home, and Mercy was enrolled in grade 2 in our primary school. We cater for all of her education including books and full school uniforms. We also provide her breakfast and lunch during school days. She is doing well and enjoys so much being in school.

Mercy is supported by impact partner Blessed Generation

Blessed Generation is a Kenya-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Charitable Children's Institution. From Kenya she gives children in need a chance for a good future. Education plays an important role in our help. It is the key to the future. Blessed Generation offers children primary and further education and, where possible, supports vocational or university education. We consciously choose not to stop supporting after primary school. Further education and thorough social emotional guidance by our qualified social workers significantly increases the possibilities of a vulnerable child and reduces risks such as crime, radicalisation and teenage pregnancies.
