My story

My name is Mercy and am 15 years old. I am the second born in our family of six girls. We live with our mother at her maternal home after we were abandoned by our father because my mother had only given birth to girls. My mother does casual jobs and cannot be able to take care of all of us and provide basic necessities. I am happy to be in Blessed Generation primary school working very hard so that i can prove to my community that the girl child is just like the boy child and should be treated equally.

Why Mercy needs our help

Mercy needs our help because she was abandoned by her father and dropped school. She is so determined to put more effort and excel in her life. She was assisting her mother in doing casual job in the village to increase their income because it was not well paying. Blessed Generation assessed the situation at home and Mercy was enrolled in our Primary school. Here in school we cater for all of her education needs and provide food to her family after every 2 weeks. she also receives good medical when need a rises.

Mercy is supported by impact partner Blessed Generation

Blessed Generation is a Kenya-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Charitable Children's Institution. From Kenya she gives children in need a chance for a good future. Education plays an important role in our help. It is the key to the future. Blessed Generation offers children primary and further education and, where possible, supports vocational or university education. We consciously choose not to stop supporting after primary school. Further education and thorough social emotional guidance by our qualified social workers significantly increases the possibilities of a vulnerable child and reduces risks such as crime, radicalisation and teenage pregnancies.
