"I like singing and dancing. I also like playing games with friends, especially running. I dream of becoming either a doctor or a professional driver. This is because the two jobs involve delivering services to people."

My story

I live with my aunt and her two children. My parents work far from home and their jobs involve a lot of movement. My aunt is an agricultural  shop attendant. When my parents save some money, they send help to my aunt in order to take me to school and also provide some other basic needs. I only go to my parent's  home during the long holidays.

Why Manuella needs our help

Manuella joined UP4S  four years ago. He was brought by his aunt who wanted him to stay at school during the school term and then go home during the holiday. This was because she was renting a single room in the town where she could not look after children well. Because of the home environment, it was evident that Manuella was not going to concentrate well on studies. So he was allowed to stay in school during the school days and then go home during the holidays. He also needs scholastic and health support during his stay at school.

Manuella is supported by impact partner UP4S

UP4S helps Ugandan orphans and underprivileged children from 3 to 18 years old by offering them a warm home and a good school education. UP4S has a primary school and a secondary school in the village of Bukomansimbi, where many of the children come from. An important starting point is that we raise the children to be young people who are proud of their own country and know how to survive here. In 2003, the UP4S foundation was founded by Sylvia Mbabazi to help underprivileged children in Uganda. Sylvia grew up in Bukomansimbi and has lived in the Netherlands since 1997. Sylvia herself was in the fortunate circumstance that she was able to get a good primary and secondary school education, but this was not the case for many of her fellow villagers. Together with a number of volunteers, it was decided to give the underprivileged children in Bukomansimbi and the surrounding area a chance at a good education. This is how the UP4S foundation (read: 'up for us', which means as much as 'stand up for us') was born.
