"His future dream is to be part of the army and be a soldier "

- Iccas

My story

He is in a family of about 11 kids. His father works at the stone mines were he barley makes 2 dollars a day. While his mother lost her job during the corona pandemic and she has been unable to secure a good job. She goes around looking for people who have dirty laundry so that she can wash them for small cash.

Why Iccas needs our help

Due to the situation at home Iccas has been unable to go to school and when money was found they had to give priority to the elder brothers because it was not enough to support him and all his siblings.

Iccas is supported by impact partner Hope4Hope Kenia

Project Held supports the children's center Hope4hope in Kenya by means of child sponsorship and project-based help such as a well, separate boys' girls' house and the farm where they can grow their own vegetables and keep animals. Hope4Hope is located in Mombasa, Kenya. Was officially started in 2010 for children of the village of Likoni. Due to poverty, the children could not go to school and had to work in the stone mines. Project leader Reginold Odhiambo has started a football project to activate the children and give them a goal. At the moment this has been expanded with a school project, a food project, a dance and music project, a children's centre and a youth centre. In Kenya, the difference between rich and poor is very large. For this reason, children and young people often go down the criminal path out of boredom and hopelessness, often they turn to drugs. The goal of Hope4Hope is to show the young people that there is hope and teach them to use their talents in a positive way. When they gather in a safe environment, they are encouraged to do well. It is important for young people to find and develop their talents. Bringing young people together is a good opportunity to tell them about God and show His love. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials, housing and medical care, so that a great future perspective is offered in which they can realize their dreams. What a day looks like: The children go to school from Monday to Friday. They get up at 6 a.m. The older children help with breakfast and also help the younger children get ready for school. School starts at 7 a.m. They brush their teeth twice a day, which is not common in Kenya. At 08:45 they come back for breakfast which consists of bread or rice with vegetables and sometimes chicken for special occasions. Then they go back to school and come back for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Lunch consists of rice or beans with vegetables and an egg. Twice a week they get chapatti which is a delicacy in Kenya. At 16:45 the school is finished and they come back home where they participate in the football or dance project. The older children go to Boarding School. This is mandatory in Kenya. Your sponsorship contribution provides education, food and shelter.
