Gideon is an 8-year-old boy from a vulnerable family in the community. Due to bilateral lower limb weakness and delayed gross motor development, he has experienced difficulty walking and balancing independently. As a result, Gideon has not been able to join school or participate in play activities with other children his age. His condition has limited his mobility and access to early learning opportunities, leaving him behind in his educational journey. Gideon’s mother sought assistance from Hope for Hope CBO in her effort to enroll him in school and access medical support. Following medical assessment and counselling at Port Reitz Hospital, doctors advised that with the right support, including bilateral leg splints, regular physiotherapy, and a child walking aid, Gideon can safely attend a public school. With continued medical care and educational support, Gideon has the potential to begin school, improve his mobility, and integrate fully into learning and social activities like other children.

Gideon needs support because his physical condition has prevented him from walking independently, attending school, and playing with other children his age. Without mobility aids, regular physiotherapy, and basic school requirements, he remains unable to access education and essential childhood experiences. His family is unable to meet the medical and educational costs required to support his condition. With timely assistance, Gideon can receive the mobility support and therapy he needs to strengthen his legs, gain independence, and safely join school for the first time. Support will not only help him walk and learn but will also restore his confidence, dignity, and sense of belonging. Without this help, Gideon risks continued isolation, delayed education, and limited opportunities for his future.

Project Held ondersteunt het kindercentrum Hope4hope in Kenia d.m.v. kindsponsoring en projectmatige hulp zoals een waterput, aparte jongens meisjes huis en de boerderij waar ze zelf groenten kunnen telen en dieren kunnen houden. Hope4Hope bevindt zich in Mombasa in Kenia. Is officieel gestart in 2010 voor kinderen van het dorp Likoni. Vanwege armoede konden de kinderen niet naar school gaan en moesten in de steenmijnen werken. Projectleider Reginold Odhiambo is een voetbalproject begonnen om de kinderen te activeren en een doel te geven. Op dit moment is dit uitgebreid met een schoolproject, een voedselproject, een dans- en muziekproject, een kindercentrum en een jongerencentrum. In Kenia is het verschil tussen rijk en arm erg groot. Hierom gaan kinderen en jongeren vaak uit verveling en hopeloosheid op het criminele pad, vaak raken ze aan de drugs. Het doel van Hope4Hope is om de jongeren te laten zien dat er hoop is en leren ze hun talenten op een positieve manier te gebruiken. Wanneer ze samenkomen in een veilige omgeving, worden ze aangemoedigd om het goed te doen. Het is belangrijk voor jongeren om hun talenten te vinden en te ontwikkelen. Het samenbrengen van jongeren is een goede gelegenheid om hen over God te vertellen en Zijn liefde te tonen. Uw ondersteuning voorziet uw sponsorkind van voedsel, school en lesmaterialen, huisvesting en medische zorg, zodat een geweldig toekomstperspectief geboden wordt waarin ze hun dromen kunnen gaan verwezenlijken. Hoe ziet een dag eruit: De kinderen gaan van maandag tot vrijdag naar school. Ze staan om 6 uur op. De oudere kinderen helpen bij het ontbijt en helpen ook de jongere kinderen om zich klaar te maken voor school. De school begint om 7 uur. Twee keer per dag poetsen ze hun tanden, wat niet gebruikelijk is in Kenia. Om 08:45 komen ze terug voor het ontbijt dat bestaat uit brood of rijst met groenten en soms kip voor speciale gelegenheden. Daarna gaan ze weer naar school en komen om 12.30 uur terug voor de lunch. Lunch bestaat uit rijst of bonen met groenten en een ei. Tweemaal per week krijgen ze chapatti wat een delicatesse is in Kenia. Om 16:45 is de school klaar en komen ze terug naar huis waar ze deelnemen aan het voetbal- of dansproject. De oudere kinderen gaan naar Boardingschool. Dit is verplicht in Kenia. Uw sponsorbijdrage voorziet in onderwijs, eten en onderdak.
