My story

My name is Felister and am 16 years old. We are 2 siblings in our family. I have a brother and come from a single parent family. We were left in the hands of our mother after the death of our father. My mother went into depression as our father was the bread winner in our family. I also dropped from school as it became difficult for our mother to secure any casual job as she was unskilled and sick. I could wash cloths for our neighbors to get food for us. We were chased from the house we lived as we were told that my father was just a care taker there.

Why Felista needs our help

Felister needs help because she is a partial orphan and neglected by her uncles. Her sick mother also made her to loose hope of going back to school. Her mothers friend asked for help in Blessed Generation after finding out that she was ready to go back to school. Blessed Generation carried out an assessment of the situation and she was enrolled in our primary school in class 7. Here in school we provide her with full school uniform and writing materials. We also provide her breakfast, break and Lunch during the normal school days which she never used before. We also provide her family with food after every two weeks and cater for her medical expenses when need arises.

Felista is supported by impact partner Blessed Generation

Blessed Generation is a Kenya-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Charitable Children's Institution. From Kenya she gives children in need a chance for a good future. Education plays an important role in our help. It is the key to the future. Blessed Generation offers children primary and further education and, where possible, supports vocational or university education. We consciously choose not to stop supporting after primary school. Further education and thorough social emotional guidance by our qualified social workers significantly increases the possibilities of a vulnerable child and reduces risks such as crime, radicalisation and teenage pregnancies.
