"I like singing and dancing during my free time. When i grow up i want to be a hair dresser, make up artist and have my own salon."

My story

My name is Esther and am 16 years old. Am the third born in our family of four boys and five girls. My father is serving a life jail term in prison. My mother abandoned us and went back to her maternal home leaving us under the care of my step mother. We were chased from our original home and moved to my fraternal uncles place. Our houses were burnt down and we were threatened not to go back. My step mother does manual job, which most of time is not available to cater for all the children needs

Why Esther needs our help

Esther needs our help because she comes from a very destitute family. Due to low income, her step mother could not provide all basic necessities to all family members. Esther and her siblings dropped out of school. They used to have one meal a day and at at times they could sleep hungry. For clothing, they depended on well wishers. The uncle requested Blessed Generation to enroll Esther and her siblings in our primary school. After assessing the situation at home. Esther was enrolled in our primary school and is doing well in grade 4. In school we cater for all of her education needs including full school uniform. We also provide her with food after every 2 weeks. She enjoys to be in school because she gets breakfast and lunch during school day.

Esther is supported by impact partner Blessed Generation

Blessed Generation is a Kenya-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered as a Charitable Children's Institution. From Kenya she gives children in need a chance for a good future. Education plays an important role in our help. It is the key to the future. Blessed Generation offers children primary and further education and, where possible, supports vocational or university education. We consciously choose not to stop supporting after primary school. Further education and thorough social emotional guidance by our qualified social workers significantly increases the possibilities of a vulnerable child and reduces risks such as crime, radicalisation and teenage pregnancies.
