"Emmanuel is the second-last child in his family and the seventh-born. He loves dancing and enjoys expressing himself through dance. He hopes to continue his education, develop his abilities, and build a brighter future for himself and his family."

My story

Emmanuel comes from a large family facing financial difficulties. His father works at a quarry, while his mother works as a casual labourer to help provide for the family. Despite both parents working hard, their income is limited and it is difficult to meet the children’s daily and educational needs. Growing up in a large family with limited financial resources has made it challenging to consistently meet Emmanuel’s school-related needs. Despite these difficulties, he remains hopeful about his future and the opportunity to continue his education.

Why Emmanuel needs our help

Emmanuel needs support to access education and meet his essential school needs. His family’s limited income makes it difficult to consistently provide school fees, learning materials, and other educational necessities. Sponsorship would help Emmanuel remain in school, continue learning, and have a stronger opportunity to build a brighter future while nurturing his love for dancing.

Emmanuel is supported by impact partner Hope4Hope Kenia

Project Held supports the children's center Hope4hope in Kenya by means of child sponsorship and project-based help such as a well, separate boys' girls' house and the farm where they can grow their own vegetables and keep animals. Hope4Hope is located in Mombasa, Kenya. Was officially started in 2010 for children of the village of Likoni. Due to poverty, the children could not go to school and had to work in the stone mines. Project leader Reginold Odhiambo has started a football project to activate the children and give them a goal. At the moment this has been expanded with a school project, a food project, a dance and music project, a children's centre and a youth centre. In Kenya, the difference between rich and poor is very large. For this reason, children and young people often go down the criminal path out of boredom and hopelessness, often they turn to drugs. The goal of Hope4Hope is to show the young people that there is hope and teach them to use their talents in a positive way. When they gather in a safe environment, they are encouraged to do well. It is important for young people to find and develop their talents. Bringing young people together is a good opportunity to tell them about God and show His love. Your support provides your sponsor child with food, school and teaching materials, housing and medical care, so that a great future perspective is offered in which they can realize their dreams. What a day looks like: The children go to school from Monday to Friday. They get up at 6 a.m. The older children help with breakfast and also help the younger children get ready for school. School starts at 7 a.m. They brush their teeth twice a day, which is not common in Kenya. At 08:45 they come back for breakfast which consists of bread or rice with vegetables and sometimes chicken for special occasions. Then they go back to school and come back for lunch at 12:30 p.m. Lunch consists of rice or beans with vegetables and an egg. Twice a week they get chapatti which is a delicacy in Kenya. At 16:45 the school is finished and they come back home where they participate in the football or dance project. The older children go to Boarding School. This is mandatory in Kenya. Your sponsorship contribution provides education, food and shelter.
