My story
Ashley lives with her parents, grandmother Emmy and aunt Immaculate in a modest house near school. Her mother, Purity, has no steady job, but does her utmost to generate some income on a small scale in the nearby village of Chavakali. Her father, Mr. Airo, works as a day laborer, which means that the family relies on irregular and often scarce income. Aunt Immaculate is in Form 1 at the village school. The family grows maize, beans and vegetables on a small piece of land for their own use, but this hardly yields any extra resources.
Why Ashley needs our help
Although Ashley is healthy and doing well in school, she needs help because of the financial difficulties at home. Her parents do what they can, but the resources are limited and uncertain. Thanks to the Sadiki Kids Program, Ashley gets the chance to continue going to school. She receives support in the form of a school uniform, shoes, her school fees are paid and she receives three nutritious meals every week. This help not only gives her the opportunity to learn, but also to continue dreaming of a future as a nurse.
