Ddembe

Suubi Jackie Castelein-Namakula, the founder of Stichting Ddembe, was born in Uganda and has lived in the Netherlands since 2012. Driven by her own experiences, she founded Ddembe to help single mothers, widows, and teenage mothers. Ddembe means 'peace' or 'calm' in Luganda and symbolizes the mission to bring peace and economic stability.

The foundation organizes fundraising activities in the Netherlands to share Ugandan culture and offers handmade products and catering services. Inspired by her brother Jovan Mukiibi and the philosophy of obuntu obulamu, Suubi strives for humanity and mutual support.
