Ddembe

Suubi Jackie Namakula, founder of Stichting Ddembe, was born in Uganda and has been living in the Netherlands since 2012. Driven by her own experiences, she founded Ddembe to help single mothers, widows, and teenage mothers. Ddembe means ‘peace’ or ‘tranquility’ in Luganda and symbolizes the mission to bring peace and economic stability.

The foundation organizes fundraising activities in the Netherlands for its project in Uganda. For example, it sells handmade products at markets and offers catering services. In addition, Ddembe shares Uganda's rich culture with people in the Netherlands. Inspired by her brother Jovan Mukiibi and the philosophy of Obuntu Obulamu, Suubi strives for humanity and mutual support.
