Fundación UP4S
En 2003, Sylvia Mbabazi fundó la Fundación UP4S para ayudar a los niños desfavorecidos en Uganda.
Sylvia creció en Bukomansimbi y vive en los Países Bajos desde 1997. Sylvia tuvo la suerte de poder asistir a una buena escuela primaria y secundaria, pero muchos de sus compañeros de pueblo no tuvieron la misma oportunidad. Junto con varios voluntarios, decidió dar a los niños desfavorecidos de Bukomansimbi y sus alrededores la oportunidad de recibir una buena educación. Así nació la Fundación UP4S (que significa "apóyanos").
En 2006 se abrió la escuela primaria, llamada Kidsgear. En Kidsgear se imparte educación preescolar y primaria en 9 grupos. Las clases tienen un máximo de 35 niños.
UP4S consideró que no podía abandonar a los niños a los 12/13 años, cuando terminaran la escuela primaria, y decidió ofrecer la educación secundaria necesaria. Para ello, en 2011 se inició la escuela secundaria "HOYS College", que significa Hope Of Youth.
Para quién
Ayudamos a niños huérfanos y desfavorecidos de Uganda de entre 3 y 18 años ofreciéndoles un hogar cálido y una buena educación escolar. UP4S tiene una escuela primaria y una escuela secundaria en el pequeño pueblo de Bukomansimbi, de donde provienen muchos de los niños.
Nuestra misión
Nos esforzamos por dar a los niños tantos conocimientos prácticos como sea posible para que puedan cuidarse bien en el futuro. Un principio importante es que queremos educar a los niños para que se conviertan en jóvenes que estén orgullosos de su propio país y sepan vivir bien en él.
Qué hacemos
El énfasis en las escuelas de UP4S está en la educación orientada al desarrollo. El niño es lo primero. Trabajamos desde la cultura ugandesa y esto se refleja claramente en materias como drama, música y danza.
